LD Advocates Guide update

Now more than ever, it is critical that parents work with their elected officials to make sure the voices of children with learning disabilities (LD) are heard in Washington, D.C., and at the state and local level. Yet, many parents are understandably overwhelmed by the legal details and don’t know exactly what they can do to make a difference.

For that reason, we are pleased to announce the August 2007, update of the LD Advocates Guide, developed by the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) and made possible by a grant from Schwab Learning.

NCLD’s mission is to increase public awareness of LD as well as provide national leadership in shaping public policy. The LD Advocates Guide:

• Clearly explains how best to engage policymakers and the media on issues affecting the LD community
  


• Provides a primer on key issues affecting the fields of LD and special education
