The Duke University ADHD Program

I have recently discovered that Duke University in Durham, N.C. has an ADHD program. Although it is almost four hours away from where we live, I plan to look into the many behavioral and medical research programs they have to offer, as well as treatment options. However, I am most interested in their Organizational Skills Intervention for 3rd - 5th Graders. Here is what their website says about their ADHD program:

The Duke ADHD Program is part of the Child and Family Study Center in the Division of Child Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center. We are a clinical, research, and training program. We offer comprehensive, state–of–the–art clinical assessment and evidence–based treatment services for children, adolescents, and adults with Attention–Deficit ⁄ Hyperactivity Disorder (known as ADD or ADHD).

In addition to evaluation and treatment, the Duke ADHD clinic also offers the following:
• Psycho-educational evaluations
• Parent & child education classes
• Parenting consultation & behavior therapy
• Adult coping skills
• School consultations
• Academic summer treatment program for middle school students
• Clinical research trials
• Learning Center/Resource Room

Their site also provides a comprehensive list of books related to ADHD for professionals, parents, adults, teens and children. They also have a list of newsletters and websites related to ADHD. Their ongoing research looks amazingly promising for the ADHD community.
